The Highs and the Lows of Our Book Journey

One week ago Hay House announced the winners of their book contest. Brendon and I waited in anticipation, hoping that our names would be announced.

In preparation for the announcement, we put into practice all of the law of attraction tools we’ve learned: we visualized, we said our affirmations, we did our cross-crawls, we meditated, we did the happy dance, we ate healthy, we exercised, we did everything we could to keep our vibration up. We celebrated as though we’d already won!

We were feeling great! Expecting the best… and then we read the announcement… and our names weren’t there. We were not awarded a book deal with Hay House.

At first we both felt defeated and devastated. All of the “monkey thoughts” came up, like: “what a waste of time, why not me?, I’m doing my best and when is the Universe going to show up? What’s it all for anyhow?” Oh yah… victim mentality and ego were creeping in big time! We’d hit a wall.

We reached out to our coaches, healers and friends for support. They were there to remind us that:

-       We are not alone

-       Don’t put all our eggs in one basket because that basket might not be the best basket for us

-       The Universe knows better than we do: trust and keep staying in faith

-       Are we committed to the message? If so, then stay detached from the result.

One week later we’re back on our feet, and in fact, we had a breakthrough just this morning!

We want to thank you: our friends, clients, readers, and supporters for standing by us and encouraging us in our book journey.

We will be self-publishing our book Sleep Secrets: A Step-by-Step Guide to Getting a Good Night’s Sleep Tonight and Every Night with Balboa Press, a division of Hay House.

That’s right… we’re doing it anyways!

We are in the midst of creating a whole new online business around this book… stay tuned for more on this. Hint: our breakthrough this morning had something to do with this!

We’ve learned that we need to stay rock solid in our own commitment to our purpose and our vision, despite what anyone else says or doesn’t say.

Like you, we are on a mission to go from hiding to shining. We all continue to take that next step in shining brighter, making our impact on the world, and experiencing our abundance.

Thank-you for joining us on this adventurous road!

On a side note, we are extremely proud to announce that one of our website and coaching clients, Erin Cox, was awarded one of the Hay House book deals! Congratulations Erin! Check out Erin’s website here: http://www.herinspiredlife.com/home/ (that’s right, we were “competing” with a client and hoping that we’d both win.) We love Erin and are so proud of her!

  1. Dana Rosser says:

Thank you so much for sharing your story. I too am becoming discouraged about writing my book but God won’t let me give it up. I have been writing for years and still have not completed this book. I’m a mother of twins and a wife of a surgeon…..my life is busy! I often think that God is disappointed in me for not finishing already so why bother.

  2. Brendon says:

Hi Dana – I don’t think God is ever disappointed in us. If the dream is still in you, then it will be manifested… all in Divine Timing. The Universe will give us all the patience, the confidence, the time, and the resources to accomplish our dreams! Keep on writing that book!

  3. Hello Brendon&Christine,
Both of you are true inspiration! Yes, you are right that each one is called in a unique way to accomplish the Divine Plan in our lives; it is in each present moment that the right way is revealed to us.
    Helen

  4. Brendon says:

    Thanks Helen,
Thanks for your kind words. Yes, each of us has a unique calling and the Universe will support us in each moment to live it!

  5. Karen Rowe says:

Way to go, you two! I think it’s fantastic that you went for it in the first place and I’ve no doubt that this situation will end up better than your wildest dreams.
